User information
More than one person can use Remedy User on the same computer. If more than one user will be sharing the tool on the same computer, you can add new users, but keep the configurations separate for each user. All the users you add appear in the Users dialog box, which can be accessed from the Account dialog box.
Before you add users, ensure that the users you want to add have been registered by the administrator. Whether an unregistered user can log in to and use Remedy User depends on the systems configurations:
- If unregistered users are not allowed access to the servers in the server list, they will not be able to log in to Remedy User.
- If unregistered users are allowed access to the servers in the server list, they are logged in as guest users. A guest user can retrieve public information in the system. In addition, a guest user can be allowed to search for and create requests and reports.
If more than one user runs Remedy User on the same computer, specify a different AR System Home folder for each user to keep user files separate.
Note: On the users local machine, any user can change another users list of servers and Home folder, but not the password. If you have logged in to a preference server, your settings are stored on that server.
AR System Home folder
The AR System Home folder contains your personalized configuration information for Remedy User. This includes:
By default, the Home folder is set to a folder within the Remedy User installation folder. Usually this is C:\Program Files\AR System\Home.
If more than one person will be running Remedy User on the same computer, a separate Home folder should be created for each user. This allows each user to have his or her own options and configuration settings.
If you do not specify alternate Home folders and other users log in to Remedy User on your computer, your local preference settings will be overwritten. However, your own favorites, recently used history, and saved searches are retained.
If the administrator has specified a preference server, you can access your option settings from any computer. Those settings are stored in the AR System User Preferences form. For more information, see "Setting centralized preferences".
Note: Recently used requests and forms are stored in your ar.ini file. If users share the same Home folder, the recent forms and requests will be changed.
For more information on the names and locations of configuration and option files in the AR System installation, see the Installing AR System guide.
